Cristiano Ronaldo Takes a Starring Role as Investor in Groundbreaking Free-to-Play Football Game
Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo is set to play a “significant role” in shaping the future of a highly anticipated free-to-play football game, UFL. The Al Nassr forward recently joined a group of investors committing over $40 million to the development of the revolutionary title, which aims to compete with established franchises like EA Sports FC and eFootball.
Developed and published by Strikerz Inc, UFL has positioned itself as a unique gaming experience, emphasizing fair play through online matchmaking that pairs players based on skill levels. According to an IGN report, the game will feature ‘fair to play’ online divisions with promotions, and seasons spanning a full year, culminating in the crowning of a UFL champion.
Strikerz Inc, with a primary focus on the online aspect, has also confirmed the inclusion of offline play, as well as 2v2 and 3v3 matches. Last year, the company made waves by featuring former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as the cover star for UFL.
As the game’s release, initially scheduled for late 2023, draws near, Ronaldo’s involvement as an investor adds a new dimension to UFL’s development. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled to be a part of this project as UFL can become the new breed in football gaming.”
Eugene Nashilov, CEO of Strikerz Inc., highlighted the significance of bringing the 38-year-old football legend on board, emphasizing Ronaldo’s role in setting a new standard for immersive football gaming. The partnership between Ronaldo and UFL marks a significant milestone in the evolution of football simulation gaming.
