WHAT HAPPENED?
According to talkSPORT, Barcelona has dispatched scouts to see Greenwood play at Getafe on loan this season. Other big Spanish clubs are watching Greenwood besides the Catalans. The forward has also being monitored by Atletico Madrid. Greenwood joined Jose Bordalas’s team on loan from Manchester United in the summer and has four goals and three assists.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Barcelona may be connected to Greenwood, but Xavi’s team has plenty of attacking alternatives and will add in January. Vitor Roque joins Robert Lewandowski, Joao Felix, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal from Athletico Paranaense. At the end of the season, Barcelona may want to make Felix’s loan permanent. Greenwood may stay in Spain. Valencia and Real Sociedad have also been linked to the Manchester United loanee, while Getafe want him permanently.
DID YOU KNOW?
If they buy him from Manchester United, Getafe will only pay 80% of the agreed sum. Due to a sell-on clause in his loan deal, Madrid will receive 20% of any transfer fee if United sell Greenwood.
WHAT NEXT FOR GREENWOOD?
United are anticipated to decide on Greenwood’s future in April 2024. Getafe have stated their interest in the forward, although he may not be signed by the end of the season when his loan arrangement expires.
