Striker Mohamed Salah was given a special shirt to mark the milestone of 200 goals for Liverpool.

The 31-year-old Egyptian star became the fifth player in the club’s history to achieve this milestone with the equalizer for Liverpool in the recent 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Legendary Ian Rush is the highest scorer in Liverpool history, but Rush’s 346 goals were scored in 660 matches, while Salah only took 327 matches to become the 5th player to ever score 200 goals for Liverpool. In the Premier League era alone, Salah is the top scorer at Anfield, with 148 goals in 234 matches. 

To mark an important milestone in the career of the club’s number 1 star, Liverpool gave Salah a special gift. Specifically, Salah took a photo with other members of Liverpool’s first team at the AXA training ground and in his hand held a shirt with the number 200 on the back.

Coach Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his number 11 after last Saturday’s drаmаtic victory and joked that Liverpool had prepared this shirt to be given immediately when Salah achieved the achievement.

“We prepared the shirt with the number 200 printed on the back two weeks ago and now we can give it to Salah. This is one of the memorable moments of his career, that’s for sure. A special player with an extraordinary milestone.

I don’t remember how many times Salah saved us with goals at the right time. The dressing room was bustling when I handed the shirt to Salah. The players asked him to speak but I don’t know what he said because he had to go to the press conference room,” said coach Klopp.

According to statistics, the defeat of Crystal Palace was the 16th time Klopp’s team won thanks to a goal in extra time in the Premier League. The German captain did not know this until informed by reporters. He believes that the number will increase because matches have more and more overtime minutes.
