Phoenix Suns Suffer 116-112 Defeat as Booker, Durant, and Beal Share Court
In a highly anticipated matchup, the Phoenix Suns finally saw the trio of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal on the court together Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets. Despite their combined efforts of 75 points, the Suns experienced a setback with a 116-112 loss.
While Booker continued to shine as the offensive catalyst with a double-double, scoring 34 points on 14 shots and dishing out 12 assists, the Nets managed to outscore Phoenix 30-24 in the crucial fourth quarter. The game was sealed with clutch free throws by Cam Thomas.
Injuries had kept the star trio from playing together until this point in the season, making Wednesday’s game the first glimpse of life with three All-Stars on the court. Notably absent were Grayson Allen, Josh Okogie, and Eric Gordon.
Durant, returning after a two-game absence due to an ankle sprain, contributed 27 points on 18 shots without any minutes restriction, playing a significant 38 minutes. Beal, in his second game back after a 12-game absence due to back issues, scored 14 points in 34 minutes, following up on a 16-point performance against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.
Despite a slow start in the opening quarter, where Booker did not attempt a field goal and Phoenix trailed by nine, he became more aggressive, scoring 16 points on seven shots in the second quarter. However, the trio struggled, shooting 4-for-10 in the fourth quarter.
Former Suns Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson made significant contributions with 21 and 15 points, respectively, with Bridges scoring 15 in the second half.
The Suns will look to bounce back on Friday at 8 p.m. at Footprint Center against the New York Knicks.
