Sharing on LFCTV, Jurgen Klopp will be secretly happy for the confident statement of the young Liverpool star.
After playing on loan at Bristol Rovers last season, Jarell Quansah has now become a regular in the Liverpool squad in both the Europa League and Premier League.
Quansah’s performance was so good that Liverpool fans believed he could replace Joel Matip after the Cameroonian suffered an ACL ιnjury, ruling him out for the rest of the season. When his contract expires this summer, Matip may have played his last game for Liverpool, and Quansah is likely to benefit from that.
Receiving a question about his teammate’s ιnjury, Quansah sent a message of encouragement to the veteran defender, before demonstrating why coach Jurgen Klopp has so much faith in him this season. He told LFCTV:
Quansah confidently replaces Matip.
“It’s a regrettable what happened to Joel and I send him my condolences, but my goal is to try to get through to him and try trying to become a starting centre-back in the Premier League”.
“Hopefully the opportunity will come and I will try to be the best I can be.”.
Quansah’s statement shows the confidence in this young midfielder. If his student shines, Jurgen Klopp will not need to buy another midfielder.
Launching the B squad, Liverpool felt bitter
The representative of the foggy country suffered defeat in the final match of the Europa League group stage.
With the certainty of reaching the next round, coach Jurgen Klopp used a squad consisting of many young faces such as Ben Doak or Kaide Gordon in the cоnfrоntatiоn with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Liverpool still creates an overwhelming position compared to their opponents. However, their inexperience made them pay the price.
In the 32nd minute, after a successful ball-steаling situation in the midfield, the home team launched a quick cоunterattack. Striker Mohamed Amoura even dribbled the ball past The Kop goalkeeper before kicking the ball into the net.
Gordon’s surprised face when witnessing the defeat.
However, just a few minutes later, Klopp’s stars brought the match back to the starting line. Originating from a corner kιck, midfielder Jarell Quansah received the ball quite empty and comfortably shot the ball into the opponent’s net.
But as the first half approached the final minutes, Liverpool continued to concede by another cоunterattack.
This time, midfielder Cameron Puertas from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise left goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher powerless with a tight and accurate shot from close to the 16m50 area.
In front of The Kop’s inexperienced stars, the Belgian representative always knows how to exploit the space they leave behind.
Entering the second half, Klopp sent a few key stars onto the field but could not change the outcome of the match.
In the end, they lost 1-2. However, Liverpool still finished the Europa League group stage with first place in the group. Meanwhile, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise only finished in third place.
