In response to speculations that surfaced earlier today indicating that Pedri had experienced a setback in his fitness, FC Barcelona has officially acknowledged that the 21-year-old player has, in fact, sustained an injury.
A knock that resulted in a slight muscular injury was sustained by the first team member Pedri during the training session that took place this morning. In the statement released by Barcelona, it was said that “he is out, and his recovery will determine his availability.”
Pedri had already missed close to three months of play earlier in the season due to an injury, and this is the second ailment that he has sustained during the current campaign.
The statement released by the Blaugrana does not specify a specific timetable for Pedri’s comeback; however, it does say that the muscle injury that the Spanish international player sustained is considered to be considered “minor.”
There are a number of different claims regarding the length of time that Pedri will be out of action. Some of these reports say that he could be out for a period of two weeks, while others assert that he will be out on the treatment tables for a period of three weeks.
If the second scenario were to play out, Pedri would be forced to miss matches against teams such as Las Palmas in La Liga and Barbastro in the Copa del Rey. Additionally, his participation in the Spanish Super Cup would be in question.
The Spaniard will not be able to participate in either the match against Almeria that will take place tomorrow or the friendly match against Club America that will take place in the United States.
Pedri’s fitness record over the past couple of seasons has been inconsistent, therefore Barcelona will be hoping that he experiences additional obstacles in his recovery. This is because Pedri has been struggling with his fitness.
