Kevin Durant Reportedly Frustrated with Phoenix Suns’ Performance
NBA star Kevin Durant is reportedly expressing frustration with the performance of his current team, the Phoenix Suns, as they hold a 14-14 record heading into the Christmas Day finale against the Dallas Mavericks. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Durant’s frustration stems from the limited time that the Suns’ big three – Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker – have spent on the court together this season.
Wojnarowski highlighted that Durant and the team can feel the impact of Bradley Beal’s missed games due to injury, stating, “This team was built around those three stars, the underwhelming supporting cast that comes from those massive trades for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal that really gutted the organization.”
The trades to acquire Durant and Beal from the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards, respectively, resulted in a depletion of the Suns’ depth. The organization had to sign low-level players to fill out the roster, leading to challenges in finding a cohesive and effective supporting cast.
Bradley Beal has played only six games this season due to an ankle injury, and Devin Booker has also been sidelined with the same injury, missing nine games. The absence of key players has contributed to the Suns’ even record, leaving them hovering around the final Play-In spot for the NBA postseason.
Despite the challenges, the Suns have seen contributions from players outside the big three, with Eric Gordon, Grayson Allen, and Jusuf Nurkic averaging more than 12 points per game. Beal is expected to return from injury soon, providing a potential boost to the team, while there is no specified timetable for Devin Booker’s return.
As the Suns navigate the season, addressing the frustration of star players and integrating the big three effectively will be crucial for their aspirations in a competitive Western Conference.
