Ronaldo Surprises Marcelo’s Son with Christmas Gift in Brazil
Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Saudi club Al-Nassr, has pleasantly surprised the son of his former Real Madrid teammate Marcelo with a special Christmas gift sent to Brazil.
During their nine-year partnership at Santiago Bernabeu from 2009 to 2018, Ronaldo and Marcelo achieved significant success, securing two La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns, and three FIFA Club World Cup triumphs. Ronaldo, who became Los Blancos’ all-time leading goalscorer during this period, left Spain for Serie A giants Juventus, accepting a new challenge.
Despite their professional separation, Ronaldo and Marcelo maintained a strong relationship, evident in the unique present that traveled from the Middle East to South America. Marcelo’s son joyfully received a signed Al-Nassr shirt from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, expressing his gratitude on social media: “Thank you so much Cris. I love you. You are my idol @cristiano.”
While there were speculations about Marcelo joining Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia after concluding his brief spell at Greek side Olympiacos in February 2023, the Brazilian defender chose to return to his roots in Brazil with Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense.
Marcelo commented on his return, stating, “We talked about this some time ago. I had some proposals to leave, not just there [Al-Nassr], but I needed to return here [Brazil], to my roots. Something told me that I had to go back.”
