Kevin Durant Shines as Suns End Losing Streak Against Rockets
In a standout performance, Kevin Durant played a pivotal role in leading the Phoenix Suns to a 129-113 victory over the Houston Rockets, snapping the Suns’ three-game losing streak. Durant showcased his versatility with a career-high 16 assists, along with 27 points and 10 rebounds, earning his 18th career triple-double.
Durant’s offensive prowess was on display as he shot 9 of 16 from the field, including 3 of 7 from beyond the arc. The victory marked Phoenix’s first road win since November 26 and provided much-needed relief for the team.
Eric Gordon, making his return to Houston since being traded in February, contributed significantly with 27 points, 17 of which came during the Suns’ impressive 43-point second quarter.
The Suns, now 15-15, had faced challenges in recent games, winning only three of their last 10. However, Durant’s standout performance helped secure a crucial road win, and the team looks ahead to a six-game homestand – their longest of the season – with renewed confidence.
Durant expressed his satisfaction with the win, stating, “It was amazing to get back on the winning side. It sucks losing. Having a tough stretch in the NBA is one of the worst feelings you can have, regardless of how many games we play in a season.”
Suns coach Frank Vogel praised Durant’s aggressive approach on both ends of the court, emphasizing that Durant’s leadership and versatility were instrumental in the team’s success. Devin Booker contributed 20 points to the victory, supported by Grayson Allen’s 16 points.
For the Rockets, Alperen Sengun scored 24 points, while Jalen Green added 23. Despite their efforts, the Rockets have now lost four of their last six games after a five-game winning streak, bringing their record to 15-14.
Eric Gordon, who made a significant impact in his return to Houston, sinking seven 3-pointers, reflected on the game, saying, “It was great to be back here – I had a lot of good memories and a lot of fun here, and it was a major turning point in my career, coming to Houston.”
