Liverpool in Talks for £77.6m-Rated Lille Defender Leny Yoro

French media reports indicate that Liverpool has entered formal talks to sign 18-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro, who is valued at a substantial £77.6 million. Lille is reportedly making efforts to retain the promising young talent, with a significant price tag reflecting their determination.

The talks have been formalized in the past month, involving Liverpool along with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City. Paris Saint-Germain, the French champions, is also reportedly interested in Yoro, who has already amassed 37 senior appearances for LOSC Lille.

Liverpool’s central defense faces uncertainties, with 32-year-old Joel Matip set to be out of contract in the summer and currently nursing an injury. While captain Virgil van Dijk has regained his form this season, he will turn 33 in July, and his contract with the Reds expires next year.

French football expert Jonathan Johnson suggests that Yoro is likely to stay with Lille this month, contributing to his development. The young defender has been influential this season, starting 18 games across all competitions and helping secure 11 clean sheets.
