Jordan Henderson Eager to Leave Saudi Arabia and Return to Premier League
Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who joined Saudi Pro League team Al-Ettifaq six months ago, is reportedly eager to leave the Middle East and return to the Premier League. Henderson’s move to the Pro League has not been as successful as anticipated, with Al-Ettifaq struggling under the management of another Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard.
Al-Ettifaq has not won a match since October, leaving them in eighth place in the league, 28 points behind leaders Al Hilal.
According to Graeme Souness, the team’s poor form, the challenging Saudi climate, and the lack of atmosphere in sparsely populated stadiums are contributing factors to Henderson’s reported eagerness to return to the Premier League.
Henderson’s move to Saudi Arabia raised eyebrows initially, and if he were to engineer a return to the English top-flight, he might face questions and challenges regarding his decision to leave in the first place.
