Hammers compete with Liverpool for former Steidten favorite
West Ham United are reportedly competing with Liverpool for the services of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Jeremie Frimpong. Frimpong has helped Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga, where they are presently captained by Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso.
Frimpong, who came through Manchester City’s development system, is a familiar face to West Ham’s director of football and former Leverkusen employee Tim Steiden. Manager David Moyes is also familiar with the player because to his affiliations with Celtic. Frimpong was bought from City for a minimal cost before being transferred to the Bundesliga two years later.
Frimpong, 23, is Leverkusen’s primary attacking outlet from the right side, acting as a right-attacking fullback. David Moyes may be interested in his adaptability. He can play as a right midfielder or right winger and has been in excellent form this season.
Frimpong is a crafty operator who provides a real attacking threat from defensive positions, thanks to his amazing quickness, close ball control, and good dribbling skills.
Unfortunately, like with any of the several Leverkusen players we’ve been linked with, signing them in January will be difficult. Steidten’s previous club is vying for the Bundesliga title and is very certain to play in the Champions League next season.
