Former Juventus director Beppe Marotta recently spoke about the impact of Cristiano Ronaldo on the Turin team in 3 years of play since the summer of 2018. Accordingly, he said that Ronaldo did not meet expectations.
Marotta told the Wolf – Storie che conta podcast (via Juve FC) as follows:
“Juventus’ purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo did not bring the desired result. Or rather, his contribution does not correspond to the high expectations that come from the parties.”
The Portuguese superstar has decided to part ways with Real Madrid to move to Juventus in a contract worth 117 million Euros. After 3 seasons, Ronaldo has scored 101 goals and 22 assists in all competitions in 134 appearances during his time with Juventus. The owner of the title of 5 Golden Balls has also won Serie A twice and many other titles.
Despite scoring a significant number of goals, Ronaldo still could not help Juventus win the UEFA Champions League. That is the real reason why the Juventus board thinks that Ronaldo’s 3 years here are not really complete. Even the way Ronaldo left Italy was not so complete when he wanted to leave.
After 3 seasons, Ronaldo decided to return to Manchester United in the summer of 2021 for a reported fee of 17 million Euros. However, things only went on for more than 1 season before the Portuguese superstar left in bitterness at the end of 2022 ahead of the World Cup.
Luckily, Ronaldo has rebounded after joining Al Nassr in January 2023, where the Portugal captain continues to score goals regularly. This season, Ronaldo has given himself 20 goals in 18 league appearances.
