Klopp Offers Hopeful Update on Curtis Jones’ Hamstring Injury After Bournemouth Win
In the aftermath of Liverpool’s commanding 4-0 victory against Bournemouth, manager Jurgen Klopp provided an optimistic update on the condition of midfielder Curtis Jones, who suffered a hamstring issue during the second half of the match.
Jones, one of nine players who retained his place in the lineup following a 10-day break between games, had delivered another composed performance at Dean Court before his early exit from the pitch due to a left hamstring concern.
Bobby Clark took Jones’ place on the field, prompting worries about another injury setback for Liverpool. Klopp addressed the situation in his post-match comments, expressing hope for a positive outcome: “We all hope [it’s OK], and Curtis as well. He felt a little bit, he had last week already a little bit but then nothing was there. Curtis, the very experienced player, thought ‘it’s 3-0, why should I risk it?’ – I hope that’s exactly how it was.”
Jones’ injury adds to Liverpool’s injury woes, with nine other players currently sidelined, and Wataru Endo absent at the Asian Cup. Additionally, Mohamed Salah suffered a hamstring injury with Egypt this week. The team, however, anticipates a return to action for Dominik Szoboszlai, who is set to recover from his own hamstring problem next week.
As Liverpool faces challenges on the injury front, the outlook improves slightly with the expected return of Szoboszlai, along with the potential inclusion of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in full training ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final decider against Fulham.
The unavailable players for Liverpool include Kostas Tsimikas (collarbone), Thiago (hip), Joel Matip (ACL), Stefan Bajcetic (calf), and Ben Doak (MCL).
