The questionable goal scored by Manchester City was met with a number of responses from supporters on X.

The late goal scored by Nathan Ake was a contributing factor in Manchester City’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the FA Cup. After Guglielmo Vicario was unable to provide complete control of the situation following Kevin de Bruyne’s corner kick, he scored from a distance of about one meter away.

According to referee Paul Tierney, the goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur received a yellow card for reacting to the situation. Consequently, the Spurs youngster claimed that Ruben Dias fouled him, which prevented him from grabbing the ball before it was sent to him. Replays demonstrated that despite Vicario’s efforts to sprint out and catch the ball, Dias jumped after him, forcing him to lose his balance just in time for Ake to score the goal that ultimately decided the game.

This decision angered some fans and a series of critical comments appeared on X:

” It was a complete foul on Vicario . Vicario couldn’t catch the ball if Dias blocked him.”

Another person affirmed ” 100% Vicario was fouled “. Meanwhile, Ake admitted after the match that he was not sure whether the goal should have been disallowed or not because he had not witnessed the incident with his own eyes and was only preoccupied with the ball.
