Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp provided updates on the team’s injury situation after the impressive 4-1 victory over Chelsea. Notably, full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson made their comebacks after recovering from injuries. Alexander-Arnold had been sidelined since the FA Cup win against Arsenal, while Robertson dealt with a shoulder injury since October.

Both players played the final 20 minutes against Chelsea, coming off the bench against Norwich as well, putting themselves in contention for the upcoming title clash with Arsenal.

In addition to Alexander-Arnold and Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai also made a goalscoring return, further boosting Klopp’s options. Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points.

Despite the positive returns, Klopp still has several injury concerns within the squad:

Alexis Mac Allister: The midfielder picked up a knock against Chelsea, but Klopp downplayed any serious injury fears, stating it was a “knee on knee” collision. Mac Allister is expected to recover without major issues.

Thiago Alcântara: The Spanish midfielder, who has been out for the entire season after hip surgery, is back in training. Klopp noted that Thiago trained for the first time, but he is unlikely to be rushed back into action.

Stefan Bajčetić: The young midfielder, hampered by injuries, is not yet back in training. Klopp hopes to have him back “sooner rather than later.”

Kostas Tsimikas: The Greek defender is waiting for clearance from the medical team to return to full training. Klopp mentioned that Tsimikas is close to being fit after suffering a collarbone injury in December.

Joël Matip: The experienced defender suffered an ACL injury in December, and it’s unclear if he will play again for Liverpool. Matip’s contract expires at the end of the season, and his future with the club remains uncertain.

Ben Doak: The young talent is undergoing rehabilitation after knee surgery. Doak tore his meniscus, and the club confirmed he faces a longer recovery period.

Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endō: Salah is receiving treatment for a hamstring injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations. Klopp confirmed he would not be ready to face Arsenal and is expected to be out for a few more weeks. Endō is away with Japan at the Asia Cup and will miss the Arsenal clash as well.
