Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has emerged as one of the fastest players in the Premier League this season, clocking a top speed of 36.76 kilometers per hour.
This impressive feat places him among the top four quickest players in the division, a distinction unmatched by any other Reds player. The revelation of the fastest players came during Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football broadcast.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven leads the pack as the fastest player in the Premier League this season, achieving a remarkable speed of 37.38 km/h. Following closely behind are Luton winger Chiedozie Ogbene and Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto. Szoboszlai, Liverpool’s summer signing, secured his place among the top five speedsters alongside Burnley’s Dara O’Shea.
Interestingly, West Ham United striker Michail Antonio, appearing as a pundit on the show, inquired about his own position on the list. Despite his impressive top speed of 35 km/h, Antonio finds himself ranked 41st overall.
Notably, former Everton winger Anthony Gordon, now at Newcastle, and current Everton midfielder Amadou Onana narrowly missed out on the top five, achieving speeds of 36.68 km/h and 36.65 km/h, respectively.
Despite Szoboszlai’s remarkable speed, he was sidelined for Liverpool’s recent defeat to Arsenal due to injury. The 23-year-old Hungarian sustained a recurrence of a previous injury, which flared up again following the New Year’s Day match against Newcastle United.
As a result, he was unavailable for the top-of-the-table clash and will also miss Liverpool’s upcoming fixture against Burnley. Manager Jurgen Klopp emphasized the need to prioritize Szoboszlai’s recovery and avoid taking any unnecessary risks with his fitness.
