In response to a rumored offer of sixty million euros from Tottenham for the midfielder, Barcelona has issued an ultimatum to Frenkie de Jong on his future responsibilities.

SOMETHING HAPPENED?

De Jong has reportedly been presented with an ultimatum by Barcelona, which has requested that he either sign the contract that has been offered to him (which has been on the table since November) or bring an offer to the table. This is according to Mundo Deportivo. Immediately after the publication of that news, Jijantes asserts that Tottenham has made a bid for the midfielder that is worth €60 million (£51 million), and that they have given him a four-year contract with the same earnings that he is presently making at Camp Nou. Given the prices involved, it is not yet clear whether De Jong would be willing to make that move, or whether Spurs would have to sell players in order to have the funds necessary to make it happen.

THE OVERGROUNDING CONCEPT

Barca is aware that this summer may be the last time they can earn a substantial money for the 26-year-old player, and they would prefer to go into the next transfer window knowing his decision to either go or remain with the club. De Jong’s current deal is set to expire in 2026. Spurs are facing competition from other clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, which expressed interest in the player. A price of €100 million (£85 million) has been proposed by Barcelona for De Jong.
