Liverpool produced a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, securing a 4-1 victory over Brentford in the Premier League.
Darwin Nunez opened the scoring with a sublime chip in the first half, followed by goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo in the second half. Despite Ivan Toney pulling one back for Brentford, Liverpool’s clinical display ensured a comfortable win.
Liverpool made two changes to their lineup, with Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate coming in for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jarell Quansah. Salah returned to the matchday squad and was named on the substitutes’ bench.
In the first half, both teams exchanged early attacks, with Liverpool’s Bradley testing Brentford’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken. Nunez broke the deadlock with a well-executed chip after a brilliant header from Diogo Jota released him through on goal. Liverpool suffered a setback as Curtis Jones and Jota were forced off due to injury, with Ryan Gravenberch and Salah coming on as replacements.
In the second half, Liverpool continued to dominate, with Mac Allister doubling their lead with a close-range finish from Salah’s pass. Salah himself got on the scoresheet with a fine solo effort, before Brentford pulled one back through Toney. However, Liverpool sealed the victory with a fourth goal, as Gakpo capitalized on a defensive mistake to slot home.
The win sees Liverpool maintain their strong form in the Premier League and keeps them in contention for the title race. With Salah and Nunez leading the attack, and a solid defensive display, Liverpool will be hoping to carry this momentum forward in their upcoming fixtures.
