Bayern Munich’s new board member Max Eberl is adamant that the club wants to keep Mathys Tel following rumors the striker is of interest to MU.
Striker Mathys Tel has shown talent since moving from Rennes for €28.5m (£24.4m) in July 2022, but has only started one Bundesliga match in almost two seasons in Bayern.
According to German press, MU has been monitoring Tel’s situation at Bayern and initial contact has been made about a potential deal for the 18-year-old. Tel’s advisor also refused to rule out the possibility of this player’s transfer in the summer of 2024.
Bayern Munich has an answer for MU about Mathys Tel
The lack of regular playing time is one of the reasons why Tel could leave Bayern in the summer of 2024. However, new Bayern Munich board member Max Eberl is adamant that the club wants to keep Mathys Tel.
“We want to bring the best possible players to Bayern, who want to achieve the greatest success, which is titles,” Eberl said at Tuesday’s press conference. Bayern always does this with foresight and a keen eye. That’s why this club is so special, it has grown steadily over the decades.
In addition, players like Mathys Tel are still developing, they are the future of the team. We want to promote the development of players like Tel. We want these players to stay with the club for many years.”
According to Bild, Tel’s advisor, Gadiri Camara, and Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, have held talks over the striker’s future.
