Cristiano Ronaldo’s side Al Nassr suffered their second consecutive loss after letting Al Raed beat 3-1 at home in the 23rd round of the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo has returned to action in the Saudi Pro League after serving a one-match suspension for making vulgar gestures towards Al Shabab fans during a match late last month.
However, the Portuguese star put in a disappointing performance as he missed several delicious scoring opportunities, including two shots that hit the post and crossbar.
Not only did he squander chances, the 38-year-old striker was guilty when his defensive effort inadvertently blocked the ball and diverted it, turning visiting midfielder Amir Sayoud’s shot into the goal that sealed a 3-1 win for Al Raed.
This defeat leaves Ronaldo and Al Nassr almost out of hope of winning the league this season, having been 9 points behind leaders Al Hilal and their opponents still playing one game less.
Many Al Nassr fans have expressed their disappointment with Ronaldo’s performance on social media. “What is Ronaldo doing in attack, can’t he score at such good chances?” one fan criticized.
“Where is Ronaldo’s acumen, it is true that age has made him much worse than before,” another fan expressed.
“Don’t blame Ronaldo, bad defense is the reason why Al Nassr failed,” another fan defended the Portuguese striker.
