Barcelona Wonderkid set to make historic national team debut this week!

It has been reported by AS that the squad list that will be released by Spain manager Luis de la Fuente this coming Friday would include the adolescent wonderkid Pau Cubarsi of Barcelona. This will be the major surprise.

In addition, the leadership of Barcelona is aware that the center back, who is only 17 years old, will be called up to the national team for the very first time in two days’ time.

Massive increase in rank and statureIt had been almost two months since Cubarsi made his debut with Barcelona’s first squad. At the time, he was a young player with enormous potential, and he was just 16 years old.

Now that we are in the month of March, the defender, who is now 17 years old, has established himself as a regular member of Xavi Hernandez’s squad. He made his debut in the UEFA Champions League this week against Napoli, and he even put on a display that earned him the title of Man of the Match.

There is a good chance that Cubarsi will see a similar meteoric ascent at the international level as he has at the club level. Since quite some time ago, there have been rumors circulating that De la Fuente is contemplating the possibility of bringing him into the squad for the upcoming international break of this month.

At this point, it would appear that the choice has already been made, and Cubarsi will be integrated into the senior squad of Spain despite the fact that he is still rather young.

It was originally planned that Cubarsi would be called up to the U-21 national team; but, his performance against Napoli has caused the situation to shift at this point.

The Royal Football Federation of Spain (RFEF) is keeping a tight lid on the situation and is not making any announcements regarding the problem.

On the other hand, the leaders of Barcelona are already taking Cubarsi’s call-up for granted and are expressing within the club that it is more than justifiable. It is said that within the club, “He will be Spain’s center-back for many years to come,” when referring to him.
