Lionel Messi was taken out of Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup encounter on Wednesday due to a leg injury, according to Tata Martino, the manager of the club.
Inter Miami prevailed over Nashville SC by a score of 3-1 (5-3).The win is a result of Messi’s goals and assists.Herons’ best athlete has suffered a new leg injury.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Martino revealed that the Argentine is likely to be a question for this weekend’s matchup between the Herons and D.C. United. Martino made this statement after the Herons defeated Nashville SC by a score of 3-1 (5-3 aggregate). It was only four minutes into the second half of the encounter when Messi was taken out of the game by a substitute in the 49th minute. A goal and an assist were both scored by him in the first half of the second leg of the tie before he was taken out of the game.
WHAT TATA MARTINO SAID
He has an excessive amount of weight on his right posterior leg. Our goal is to avoid taking any chances. We made an effort to see if he could continue for a little while longer, but he was having a hard time with it… It is my assumption that he will not be available for the game that will take place on Saturday (against DC United).

THE BIGGER PICTURE
According to Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald, the injury that was experienced consisted of a strain to the hamstring. In light of the fact that the Herons talisman will be playing in two international friendlies against Argentina beginning the next week, it appears that his situation for both the club and the country is now uncertain.
Recently, he did not play for Inter Miami in their surprise 3-2 loss to CF Montreal. Although Martino referred to it as “rest” for the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, many people speculated that it was because of a shin ailment that had him listed as questionable on the club’s injury report just hours before the match.
DID YOU KNOW?
With a “scar tissue flare-up,” Messi was unable to play for Inter Miami during the fall of last year, which resulted in him missing four matches. During the subsequent six matches, which were played across all competitions, the Herons did not achieve a single victory. The one and only match that they play without them in 2024 is also the one match that they lose across all competitions.
