Gakpo Unfazed by Criticism Amid Liverpool Transition

In recent discussions surrounding Liverpool’s forward Cody Gakpo, criticisms have emerged both locally and internationally. However, the player remains resolute in his focus on personal development rather than external opinions on his performance at Anfield.

Thriving in the role akin to Roberto Firmino last season, Gakpo’s position within the Liverpool squad has become less defined following upgrades to the midfield during the summer transfer window. 

Despite not being the first-choice in any position and facing scrutiny, particularly after a cameo appearance against Manchester United, Gakpo maintains his composure.

In an interview with Voetbal, as reported by Sport Witness, Gakpo expressed his indifference to discussions regarding the success of his Liverpool transfer, stating, “I am someone who always looks at, what can I do better and how can I develop myself. And that is still the case today.”

Acknowledging areas for improvement, Gakpo demonstrates a commitment to personal growth amidst both favorable and unfavorable circumstances. Despite being Liverpool’s fifth-choice forward and facing heightened responsibility due to injuries within the squad, Gakpo’s resilience suggests a potential for significant strides in his development.
