“I will always honor and support you,” Magic Johnson promised his wife Cookie as they celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary.
Magic and Cookie Johnson are celebrating a “very special anniversary” today together.
The renowned NBA star, who is currently 64 years old, celebrated the event on Thursday by sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram.
“Today and for many years to come, I celebrate my wife of 32 years, Cookie Johnson on this very special anniversary,” Magic wrote in a movie featuring adorable photos of the couple over the years. The words “very special anniversary” were also recorded on the cassette.
“So it says in Matthew 19:6 that they are no longer two but one flesh,” Magic then uttered. Since the Bible states that “what God has joined together, let no one separate,” I’m thrilled that our love has endured over time.
In a letter to his wife, the former Laker player expressed his appreciation, saying, “I appreciate your unending love and the encouragement you give me each and every day.”
Magic went on to say that Cookie is motivated to “be the best man I can be” by his “love for Christ, dedication to our family, and heart.” Cookie was talking about her heart, our family, and Christ.
Magic promised to “honor and support you in any way I can, now and forever” at the conclusion of his caption. “I appreciate your service very much!”
Magic and Cookie started dating irregularly in 1978 while they were both Michigan State University students. Eventually, they were joined in marriage. On September 14, 1999, they were married in Lansing, Michigan, Magic’s hometown, in front of their close friends and family.
Magic stated to PEOPLE in 2016 that his wife and family are the reasons he lives and works as hard as he does. “My wife and family are the reason I work as hard as I do today.”
The pair left for their pricy yearly trip throughout Europe this past summer. Magic declared, “This has been one of our best vacations because of the staff, chefs, and yacht,” following the trip. Magic made his remarks once the journey was over. “It feels like the last six months passed by so quickly!”
When Magic and Cookie were in Antibes, France, on July 5, they began journaling about their adventures. They had dinner at Michelangelo, a restaurant, while they were there.
They asked people to visit them on their yacht in the summer of 2013, including Judge Greg Mathis, Michael Jordan, and Samuel L. Jackson.
We had a fantastic meal at the Da Paolino Ristorante, often known as the “lemon tree restaurant,” in Capri, Italy tonight. Johnson’s letter dated July 12th. And I got to hang out with Michael Jordan and his wife Yvette, Sam and LaTanya Jackson, Judge Greg and Linda Mathis, John and Vicki Palmer, and a whole bunch of other famous people.
On August 5, Magic expressed gratitude to all of their friends and family members who traveled with them in 2023 and said, “Cookie and I want to thank all of our friends that joined us!” We shared a lot of laughs, had some thought-provoking chats, and had some excellent food. Now that we have some time to ourselves, I intend to spend the next week going on dates with my significant other, making the most of our time together, and watching a lot of movies together.
The final leg of the couple’s holiday in Europe was spent in Croatia, where they were able to kick back and unwind. An Instagram post claims that Magic and Cookie “shared a beautiful night in Dubrovnik, Croatia” at the Nautika Restaurant. This claim is based on a post that the two of them published to their account.
Magic posted a number of cute photos of himself and his spouse to Instagram with the caption, “The food was amazing and the view was spectacular.”
The Nautika Restaurant, according to Magic, was “right behind” Fort Lovrijenac, “where Game of Thrones was filmed,” and served “amazing” dinners.
Magic reported that they had “a beautiful week” together, “hanging out, dating, reminiscing, and watching TV shows and movies like Special Ops: Lioness with Zoe Saldana and Hijack with Idris Elba.”
