Manchester City and Arsenal fans would have rejoiced as they watched Liverpool lose 1-0 to Crystal Palace in their Premier League match on Sunday afternoon.

Anfield became dead as Palace secured a shock away victory, capping off a horrible week for Jurgen Klopp and his team, who had suffered a humiliating defeat in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

Crystal Palace defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, ending their Premier League title ambitions.

Eberechi Eze’s first-half strike moved Palace eight points clear of the relegation zone, preventing Liverpool from returning to the top of the Premier League.

Palace had never won a Premier League match against Liverpool in the previous 13 meetings. 

However, Liverpool had a promising start at Anfield, taking the lead in the 14th minute when Tyrick Mitchell cut the ball back for an unmarked Eze to tap past Alisson.

Four minutes later, Virgil van Dijk’s error allowed Jean-Philippe Mateta to gallop away on goal and dink over the onrushing Alisson, but Andrew Robertson saved the day.

Liverpool attempted a response, with Wataru Endo hitting the crossbar and Luis Diaz’s acrobatic volley saved by Dean Henderson, who also blocked a powerful Darwin Nunez drive after the break.

The Reds dominated the second half, but no matter what they did, they couldn’t get an equaliser.
