Fans think they've worked out the meaning of Ronald Araujo's gesture after red card vs PSG

Ronald Araujo’s hand motion, which occurred after the Barcelona defender was sent off against PSG, seemed to have been understood by fans.

After pulling down Bradley Barcola, the Uruguayan international was given a straight red card by the referee since it was his apparent chance to score a goal that was prevented.

Barca had won the first leg 3-2 at Parc des Princes, and they were ahead 1-0 as of earlier in the evening.

However, Ousmane Dembele pulled one back for the visitors 11 minutes after the red card was given. Vitinha’s early second-half goal and Kylian Mbappe’s brace turned the match around, giving PSG a 6-4 lead overall.

Following Araujo’s red card, three close-up screenshots of the defender’s motion were shared by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter in an enigmatic tweet.

In the post’s caption, Romano wrote, “Ronald Araujo, not happy with his red card.” Romano did not, however, elaborate on the significance of the gesture.

While some fans were perplexed by the gesture, others tried to decipher its meaning in the comments section.

“Araujo knows we were robbed!” one person wrote.

“It’s the below, meaning robbed,” stated another.

A third said, rather simply, “Robbery.”

Meanwhile, someone else made the joke, “He’s casting a Merlin-type spell.”

One more person said, “He was trying to turn the time back.”

A sixth person asked, “Is this some sort of magical stuff?” in response.

For Xavi’s team, who had dreamed of winning the Champions League for the first time in 2015 despite their domestic troubles this season, it was a nightmare of an evening.

However, the Spanish powerhouses still have to wait as they will likely not have a manager for the upcoming campaign following Xavi’s announcement that he would be leaving.

Les Cules are apparently attempting to persuade the legendary Barcelona player to come to a compromise, as President Joan Laporta has stated that he may remain at the team.

However, with seven games remaining in La Liga and an eight-point gap to Real Madrid, an elimination from the quarterfinals may further persuade Xavi that it’s time to move on.
