Gakpo has been hailed as one of the players most likely to gain under Slot’s coaching prior to his arrival at Anfield.

In three encounters between Gakpo’s PSV Eindhoven and Slot’s Feyenoord, the left wing contributed three goals and three assists. The two have already crossed paths four times in the Netherlands.

How happy was the Liverpool forward with his appointment? the question was posed to him in an interview with ViaPlay following Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham.

Gakpo answered, “To be honest, I have never worked with him.”

“I am aware that he is an excellent coach, as demonstrated by his work at Feyenoord and Arizona.

Naturally, we faced [his Feyenoord] a few times in tough matches.

“I am highly intrigued, and I believe we are all eager to see it through.”

“At this time, we are concentrating on winning the last two games, for ourselves, the team, and the coach. After that, we’ll take a closer look at the new coach.”

Gakpo adopted a similar strategy to that of Virgil van Dijk, who, after the triumph at Anfield, interacted with media members like as David Lynch of This Is Anfield.

Is he the new supervisor? Though nothing official has been declared, there are whispers and speculations that he might succeed Klopp, according to Van Dijk.

“Let’s see, we still have two games left in this season. After it’s finished and there’s news, we’ll concentrate on what’s coming up next, but it’s a given that there will be a lot of changes that make for an entertaining ride.

“I am excited to be a part of that and am here to do so.

“I want to help, I will help, and I should help [the transition] because I am the captain of the club.” Let’s see whether it is the person that shows up.

Even though Slot has been reticent, the fact that he has spoken so candidly about taking over at Anfield in recent weeks has raised some slight concerns because neither club has made the deal official and Klopp is still in charge.

It is wise for Gakpo and Van Dijk to avoid making the same mistake twice, as the priority at this time should be making sure that one of Liverpool’s greatest managers ever has the finest possible farewell.
