On April 25, Noa van der Bij, the partner of Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo, gave birth to a boy, who they welcomed into their family.
Now that the couple has shared the cute name of the child on social media, the football community and beyond have showered them with congratulations and well wishes.
The couple announced the arrival of Samuël Seth Gakpo on Instagram in a shared post.
They added, “We were blessed with Samuël Seth Gakpo, the new love of our lives, on April 25, 24.”
Ryan Gravenberch, a standout player for Liverpool, sent a loving greeting, and John Achterberg, the departing goalkeeping coach, also replied. Saffie Khan, the girlfriend of Reds player Curtis Jones, also gave her best wishes.
Pros like Gakpo’s Dutch international colleague Noa Lang and Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven also left comments on the page.
Before the Merseyside derby against Everton, Noa went into labor. It is believed that Gakpo was supposed to start the game but would eventually have to withdraw from the team.
The next day was the baby’s birth.
A GOOD FORM IS SHOWING AS THE SEASON ENDS
Gakpo, who just turned 25, has been playing well for Liverpool lately. Against Tottenham in the Premier League this past weekend, he scored a goal and provided an assist.
The attacker has 15 goals this season in 51 games across all competitions.
Earlier in the season, the Netherlands international had moments of difficulty, and manager Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that he created a “problem” by starting Gakpo in a deeper midfield position while there was an injury crisis.
In addition, the former PSV captain stated that he is “curious” about joining Arne Slot as head coach.
Gakpo commented, “To be honest, I have never worked with him,” on Slot’s impending presence.
“I am aware that he is an excellent coach, as evidenced by his work at Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar.
Naturally, we had a few games against [his Feyenoord], and they were frequently tough ones. It intrigues me tremendously, and I believe we are all eager to see it through.
“At this time, we are concentrating on winning the last two games, for ourselves, the team, and the coach. After that, we’ll take a closer look at the new coach.”
Gakpo left PSV in 2022 to join Liverpool with a £37 million signing bonus.
