In the 2023 Summer transfer window, Bayern Munich was very close to Joao Palhinha when they reached an agreement to recruit him for 70 million Euros.

Palhinha even completed the first part of the medical exam. But because they couldn’t find a replacement, Fulham changed their mind and no longer sold the 28-year-old midfielder to Bayern.

Despite failing to recruit Palhinha, Bayern still kept in contact with this midfielder throughout the 223/24 season.

The Fulham star repeatedly asked Ԁie Roten’s Board of Directors whether the deal could still happen or not. Palhinha is very disappointed when he cannot go to Bayern in the summer of 2023 and still dreams of playing at the Allianz Arena. He wants to clarify his future before EURO 2024 starts.

For his part, after arriving at Bayern Munich, coach Vincent Kompany immediately evaluated the Gray Tigers squad. The Belgian coach concluded that no player has the same qualities as Joao Palhinha and this is a necessary contract to improve the strength of the midfield.

It is possible that Palhinha will be coach Kompany’s first new recruit at Allianz Arena.

If they recruit Palhinha, Bayern will not rule out the possibility of letting Joshua Kimmich leave. Kimmich’s contract is only valid until June 2025 and negotiations between the two sides are still stalled.

Barca is one of the teams interested in the German midfielder. Coach Hansi Flick used to work with Kimmich and wants to drag the 29-year-old star to Olimpic Lluis Companys.
