According to Football Insider, Manchester City’s board of directors has decided to sell midfielder Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window of 2024.

The report suggests that the Premier League champions are concerned that Grealish’s increasingly frequent partying habits could have serious consequences and Pep Guardiola has now given his blessing to part ways with the former Aston Villa midfielder.

The midfielder joined the Citizens from Aston Villa three years ago for a then club-record fee of £100m, and has endured a mixed bag of emotions since then, but has so far failed to live up to his potential at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League champions are now hoping to recoup most of the £100m they paid to sign Grealish, but that is unlikely to happen given the England midfielder’s poor form over the course of the season.

Currently, the old team Aston Villa is said to have had many discussions about Grealish with Man City, however the price that the Villa Park team is willing to pay is only about 45-50 million pounds, much lower than what The Citizens want (about 80 million pounds).

Pep Guardiola chooses Doku to replace Grealish

Grealish’s situation became more tense after Man City signed Jeremy Doku last summer, and the young Belgian played so well that he took over the official position, making the England midfielder a reserve player for most of the 2023/24 season.

At present, no agreement has been reached between the two parties, however Football Insider is confident that a handshake will be reached once the final price is agreed, as this is the best option for both clubs before the new season officially returns.
