Lamine Yamal made history by becoming the youngest goalscorer in the European Championship in the EURO semi-final match against France

The top young talent of Spanish football in particular and world football in general – Lamine Yamal has officially entered Euro history with a masterpiece scored in the Euro 2024 semi-final against the French team.

Accordingly, Yamal became the youngest player to score in the history of the Euro tournaments, breaking the 20-year record of former Swiss player Johan Vonlanthen in the match against France on June 21, 2004.

Johan Vonlanthen achieved this remarkable feat at the age of 18 years and 141 days, and it took two decades for Vonlanthen’s record to be broken. Lamine Yamal was just 16 when he scored against France in the semi-finals of Euro 2016, and just three days before he turned 17.

Yamal’s goal in this match was truly an extremely eye-catching masterpiece. The young talent from Barcelona had an incredible curling shot from outside the penalty area, the ball hit the inside edge of the post and completely defeated goalkeeper Mike Maignan on the opposing side, equalizing the score 1-1 for Spain.

Previously, Lamine Yamal had made quite a few notable personal achievements at Euro 2024. Yamal was the youngest player ever to play in the Euros when he started in the opening match against Croatia; the winger born in 2007 is also one of four teenagers in the history of the tournament to have three assists in a Euro, along with Cristiano Ronaldo, Arda Guler and Enzo Scifo.
