However, the player’s transfer fee could be a problem for Barca. The player’s contract termination clause is worth around 63 million Euros.

Bilbao can also compete with Spain’s top clubs on salary, having recently tied down another Spain international in Unai Simon to a new contract.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are also among the teams interested in Nico Williams. However, the London team may not pursue this deal too aggressively due to the high transfer fee.

After winning Euro 2024, Nico Williams told reporters that he did not want to discuss his future and these questions made Athletic Bilbao’s leadership feel uncomfortable.
