In recent days, coach Hoang Anh Tuan of Binh Duong Club has surprised the Vietnamese football world when he announced that he wanted to recruit midfielder Luka Modric from Real Madrid Club. That was the statement of the former head coach of U23 Vietnam on the sidelines of Binh Duong Club’s training session on July 23.

“I’m not used to talking about things I don’t have yet, but I wish for a lot. Right now, I want to bring midfielder Luka Modic here, even though he’s almost 40 years old. In addition to the professional factor, this deal also brings motivation and push to Vietnamese football.

Hai Phong Club once brought the famous Brazilian striker Denilson to play, so why can’t Binh Duong? The presence of such superstars will contribute to promoting football culture, creating momentum for better development,” said coach Hoang Anh Tuan.

Not stopping there, the Khanh Hoa coach also wants to have the service of another superstar in the Binh Duong Club squad, in case the Thu Dau Mot team can recruit Luka Modric. That is Lionel Messi , the Argentine superstar.

In response to the media’s question about whether Binh Duong Club would like to recruit any more players if Modric were in the squad, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan replied: “I choose Messi , I will definitely choose Messi. Binh Duong already has Tien Linh and many other quality players here. I think adding Modric and Messi is enough.”

It can be understood that the statement of wanting Modric or Messi is just a metaphor of coach Hoang Anh Tuan about wanting more quality players in the squad of the team at Go Dau stadium. Because the possibility for the team once considered as “Vietnamese Chelsea” to have the signature of Modric or Messi is extremely low.

 

Mr. Ho Hong Thach, chairman of Binh Duong Club, also spoke about the above possibility: “Coach Hoang Anh Tuan only wishes so, but where does the club get the money to recruit Modric?”

Mr. Thach added that Binh Duong Club is in the process of training to prepare for the new season. Depending on the injury situation and the shortage of players, the team will consider recruiting more players.

Up to now, Binh Duong Club has signed two quality players, Ho Tan Tai, Ngo Tung Quoc and young player Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong (Cong Phuong’s cousin). In addition, the Thu Dau Mot team is testing winger Nghiem Xuan Tu and several other foreign players.

Regarding the coaching staff, coach Hoang Anh Tuan reunited with technical director Jurgen Gede. Binh Duong Club also hired a physical therapist and a foreign fitness coach. The Thu Dau Mot team is making a big investment to aim for the top race of the 2024/25 V-League season .
