The huge man’s remark showed that he was still hyped up from his vital victory over the Japanese. The French squad struggled in the buildup to the Olympics, and a loss on Tuesday would have been disastrous for the host nation.
However, because to Victor Wembanyama’s all-around effort, France secured the victory and now leads Group B with two wins. The French team previously defeated Brazil 78-66 on Saturday. Wemby finished his game against Japan with 18 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Wembanyama received strong backing from Matthew Strazel and Evan Fournier, who scored 17 and 14 points, respectively. Despite the French victory, the real story of the game should be Japan’s Yuki Kawamura’s 29 points. LA Lakers centre Rui Hachimura also had a strong performance, scoring 24 points.
