Nikola Jokic’s passion for horse racing is well-documented, and he recently invited Denver Nuggets colleague Aaron Gordon to accompany him to an event at the Sombor Hippodrome in Serbia during the summer.

The two NBA stars were caught enjoying the horse racing event, and the photos instantly went viral on social media.
This was not the first time Jokic has been photographed indulging in his enthusiasm for horse racing while in Serbia. On July 27, the NBA champion was filmed celebrating a horse racing victory, even doing shirtless karaoke.

Gordon has spoken openly about his close friendship with Jokic, emphasising their brotherhood both on and off the court. He underlined his commitment to supporting Jokic no matter where they are in the world, emphasising their strong bond as teammates and friends.
“I just wanted to let him know that he got a brother, no matter where he is in the world,” Gordon told me. “After he’s done playing basketball and disappears, I’ll still be able to pull up on him.”

“I just really love talking to him,” Jokic remarked. “He’s a very interesting man. I believe we’ve learnt just by playing. He is taking a role that involves less ball handling. His ability to change his game has greatly benefited us.”

Gordon backed Jokic in September 2022, when he represented Serbia at the EuroBasket event in Prague. Jokic, in turn, praised Gordon’s development as an NBA player and his willingness to adjust his game for the team’s benefit. Their on-court chemistry was evident during the Nuggets’ 2023 championship run, where Gordon’s services as a role player were critical to their victory.
