Novak Djokovic, the finest Serbian tennis player, witnessed what the world’s best basketball player said about him.

Although Nikola Jokić did not win MVP this season, he performed admirably in the playoffs, deserving of the NBA championship. Denver has thus far defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Lakers.

After the series with the Lakers, Jokić was asked if he would exchange messages with Djokovic, who is competing at Roland Garros this week.

“To be honest, I do not know his phone number. He represents Serbia on a far larger scale; he is Serbia’s ambassador. He is an inspiration for Serbian children, both on and off the pitch, because of everything his foundation does… I wanted to be like Novak Djokovic. He’s doing fantastic things for children and Serbia. Jokić added, “I can’t compare with him.”

Novak celebrated in the first round of Roland Garros by defeating Aleksandar Kovacevic in three sets, and shortly after that match, he disclosed that he had found Jokic’s phone number.

“I don’t think anyone can match him right now. He is undoubtedly the best basketball player in the world, and I wholeheartedly support him. He is a wonderful person and the pride of Serbia. I’m honoured, honestly; I saw his statement about a week ago. I am sincerely appreciative. We haven’t spoken in a while; I only acquired his phone number yesterday and will text him. Today, it is difficult to obtain his phone number. He’s a big star, but I want to write him a message and say ‘thank you’ since he impacted me, sent nice words, and I feel the same way about him. Really”.

“I think he’s a very humble and basic man. It is from one of the world’s most popular sports leagues, the NBA. And he has dominated for three years, which is extraordinary. Listening to LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and other players rave about him, Embiid, and Antetokounmpo, and how much they admire him, makes me proud. I am a great lover of basketball, Serbia is a basketball nation, and we pride ourselves on being good at basketball throughout history. “But we’ve never had someone as successful in the NBA as him,” Djokovic stated.

Jokić will play his first NBA Finals match on June 1st, while Đoković will face Marton Fučović in the second round two days later.
