Denver still has to round out the squad and add more reliable postseason depth, but having Nikola Jokic, the three-time MVP, on the roster ensures a puncher’s chance.
As is customary in the summer, Jokic has returned to his hometown of Sombor, Serbia, where we can see him enjoying life at the racing track or singing and dancing at a local pub.
What we don’t always see in the summer is Jokic working out on the court, as he isn’t the type of basketball player to post images or videos of himself “in the lab” during offseason training. However, on Tuesday, a video surfaced on Twitter showed Jokic getting some light court time in the shape of a 3-on-3 game at a park in Sombor with what appears to be a random group of guys playing pickup.
Jokic is clearly not moving at full speed here, but I would never stop talking about it if I were the man who got a bucket on Jokic. I also had to give a shoutout to Jokic’s teammate, who refuses to play a two-man game with him, dribbling right by him and waving him off before launching a three that bricks. That’s what pickup ball is all about, and I’m thrilled the overconfidence of random people at the park persists even when you have literally the best basketball player in the world on your squad.
