The United States men’s basketball team earned their fifth consecutive gold medal in the Paris Olympics this summer, and LeBron James wanted to capture the moment forever.
James opted to get an iconic Olympic rings tattoo near his right elbow over the weekend. Many Olympic athletes get this tattoo after their competitions, particularly if they won a medal. After his third Olympic appearance, James followed suit and inked the rings on himself.
GangaTattoo, a well-known tattoo artist who has already tattooed the NBA icon, shared a video of James’ new tattoo on Instagram.
James had an interesting Olympic Games, as he returned to Team USA for the first time since 2012. He served as one of the flag bearers for the United States, alongside tennis sensation Coco Gauff. He was also the team captain, and he was voted the Olympic Basketball MVP following the team’s gold medal victory.
This was James’ third gold medal with Team USA, but it could have been his last, since the 39-year-old refused to commit to competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He will be 43 years old at the time, and he may have retired from basketball by then.
