Luxury design superpower Louis Vuitton has once again turned to sports to boost its brand image, this time by enlisting the services of San Antonio Spurs youngster Victor Wembanyama.
According to GQ magazine, Wembanyama will become the newest face of the iconic company, marking an exciting milestone in his developing career. In an exclusive interview with the men’s leisure magazine, Wembanyama emphasised his enthusiasm for the partnership, calling it “the best partner I can think of.” He went on to say that Louis Vuitton’s reputation for French brilliance and experience was a crucial element in his decision to join forces.
Louis Vuitton reiterated Wembanyama’s words, emphasising his dedication to excellence and alignment with the brand’s values and goals. In an official press statement, the fashion house praised Wembanyama’s pioneering career and emphasised his ability to follow in the footsteps of creator Louis Vuitton himself.
This collaboration with Wembanyama is only the latest in a string of partnerships between Louis Vuitton and notable athletes of colour. Last month, basketball legend LeBron James appeared in a campaign for Pharrell Williams’ LV Spring/Summer 2024 collection, which highlighted the brand’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. Naomi Osaka, a tennis sensation, was also chosen a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton in 2021, reinforcing the maison’s commitment to collaborating with individuals that represent brilliance and drive.
