Nikola Jokic scores a team-high 27 points to lead the Nuggets against the Jazz 129-103

Nikola Jokic scored 27 points and Michael Porter Jr. added 20 as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Utah Jazz 129-103 on Saturday night, their first home victory of the season.

Julian Strawther had 19 points and Christian Braun had 17 for the Nuggets, who handed the winless Jazz their sixth consecutive loss to begin the season. Jokic also tallied 16 rebounds and nine assists.

Walker Kessler led Utah with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Johnny Juzang scored 17 points.

Both clubs were suffering with injuries. Russell Westbrook began in place of Nuggets star Jamal Murray, who was still in concussion protocol after being injured in a collision with Julius Randle in Minnesota on Friday.

Utah has relied on rookies Cody Williams and Kyle Filipowski, who started in place of Lauri Markkanen (back spasms) and Taylor Hendricks (broken leg).
